NEW DELHI: Mr. Vinod Kohli, one of the vice-presidents of the Indian Journalists’ Union, has been nominated a member of the Press Council of India. A notification for the reconstitution of the Council for its 14th term was issued on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
A senior journalist based in Chandigarh, Mr. Kohli, is the President of the Chandigarh-Punjab Union of Journalists (CPUJ), which was earlier found among the eligible associations by the Press Council. He has been nominated under the category of working journalists.
The CPUJ is among the three state journalists’ unions in the country to make a direct entry into the Press Council of India. Mr. Kohli has also been a member of the Central Press Accreditation Committee of Press Information Bureau, New Delhi.
The names of the new members for PCI’s 14th term are as follows:
EDITORS: Ankur Dua, Dr. Baldev Raj Gupta, Dr. Khaidem Athouba Meitei, Prakash Dubey, Dr. Suman Gupta and Vinod K. Jose.
Working journalists: Ansu Chakraborty, Jai Shankar Gupta, Kingshuk Pramanik, Prajnananda Chaudhuri, Vinod Kohli, Gurbir Singh and Prasanna Kumar Mohanty.
Nominee of Rajya Sabha: Dr. K. Keshava Rao.
Owners or Managers of medium newspapers: Gurinder Singh & L.C. Bhartiya.
Owners or Managers of small newspapers: Aarti Tripathi & Shyam Sundar Panwar.
Managers of News Agencies: G. Sudhakar Nair.
Nominees of UGC, Bar Council of India & Sahitya Academy: Prof. J.S. Rajput, Shailendra Dubbey & Madhav Kaushik.
